Mackinac Island
Take a shuttle right from the airport to the ferry and experience one of Michigan's largest attractions. Tour the car-free island by bike or horse-drawn carriage, explore its history, find unique shops, and taste some specialty fudge.
Tahquamenon Falls
"Root Beer Falls," as the locals call them, are one of the Eastern Upper Peninsula's most popular destinations in any season. The nickname originated because of the rich brown color of the waterfall and the white frothy foam that forms as the water crashes down 48 feet, which oddly resembles root beer. The dark brown color in the water comes from the tannins that leach from the cedar swamp at the start of the Tahquamenon River.
Soo Locks
This engineering marvel has been in operation since 1855 and is the largest and busiest locks system in the world. Enjoy seeing 1,000-foot freighters, traversing between Lake Superior and Lake Huron, rising or lowering right before your eyes.
